that is 1 sweet hood!!! i have been looking around for 1 hell of a long time and didn't find anything that caught my interest. i was thinking of finding a tear drop fiberglass cowl like the 1's from the 60's ford and molding it to my factory hood. i have never seen anything like it yet. i think it would look cool. anyways good job on the hood and i like that blue paint.

I always wanted somthing steel that bolted on and the only one that Ive seen is the one from LMC for $599 plus $100 to ship and it's bearly even noticable.
I enjoy the color quite a bit too. It's a boring name but is a beautiful color. They introduced it in '96 so it kinda rare on these trucks but I've seen it on some Super Duty's.

Yeah. Its a 4" rise.
The hood doesnt bend that hard once it is cut. You've got to peel it off the bracing underneath though.
I cut two strips up the hood 28" apart and and made cardboard templates out of budlight boxes for the sides to begin with and kept trimming them untill I liked the shape. Then I transferred the shape onto two pieces of steel. I leaned them in an inch.
The angle at the back I also made a template and set it on the stock hood and opened it to make sure it wouldn't hit the windshield when the hood was open.

We used the 28" measurement at the front of the hood and opened it up to 32" in the rear. We noticed you mentioned in an eariler post that in hind sight you would have made it wider in the back....so we figure why not.
We are now to the point of making the templets for the sides. I think they should go pretty easy. When we finish I'll post some pictures.
Thanks for the help!!

We are still working my son's. Had to put it off for a few days. Hope to be mostly completed by the end of next week. We have the sides welded on, need to make the back end of the hood, grind welds and putty.
I need to go to San Diego for a few days, when I return I'll post some pictures.

That looks nice but also very hard to replicate easily. That will take a lot of time to make. give us some pics if you end up doing it.
