05 ranger
battery power drains in5-6 days.
hooked amps gauge which showed a.5 amp draw, removed 1 fuse at a time but the gauge stayed at .5.the battery had frozen when it was discharged and wouldnt recharge so replaced.
i unplugged the alternator, left it from sun night til fri and it started perfectly so replaced the alt..
in the alt box there was a notice that 93-96 3.0 rangers had an issue where if the heater was on with the engine off,the alt was energized draining the batt.the wiring harness to cure this is not available from ford and the dealer couldnt say if it would work if i got it from fords 'old stock' supplier.
the next time the truck was parked i made sure to turn off the heater before the engine but the battery still drained.
any suggestion is appreciated.thank you
You've been busy on this one & have done some good trouble shooting.
Sounds like Murphys Law is messing with you!!!!
Have you checked the brake lights, to make sure their off/that the brake light switch isn't sticking on & that the dome lights timing out & are turning off when the doors are closed????
Have you done another parasitic drain measurement since installing the new alternator???? Just because its new, doesn't automatically make it good!!!!
If all that is ok, could be that the GEM isn't timing out & going to sleep like its supposed to.
Some thoughts for consideration, keep us posted on your trouble shoot.
