I have been thinking about creating a communal Youtube account specifically for users on this forum.
I think it would be a great way for us to do walk around's on all of our IDI's to kind of show off what we have done and what were planning on doing.
As well as being an excellent tool for the rest of us users to help diagnose your problem/problems. Almost always is it easier to explain whats going on when you have a picture especially with those tricky electrically faults that seem to creep up.
Not only that, but it would be a really great reference for newbies like myself to get a better understanding of a part, or how to do something.
The only problems I can see with doing it would simply be not enough of us being interested. Its not alot of work to upload a video to youtube, but it does take extra effor and not all of us really care to do it. Totally understandable by the way.
Thoughts, Opinions, Comments....Is it worth it or not be realistic:
Ill give it a day or so to make sure no one has any relative arguments as to why not.
If there is ever an issue with abuse ill take the next step toward stricter moderation but i think everyone here has got brains enough to contain themselves.
And on another note, having a YouTube channel might also attract more people toward our FTE section maybe someone doesn't know about the knowledge base that exists here.
Yeah definitely posting how to's is going to be a key deal with this. Most of us I am sure are visual people and would benefit a great deal if there were tutorials they could watch.
I wouldn't mind making some how too videos. I have a few projects in the agenda for the near future I wouldn't mind filming. I think it is a great idea
I think in order for this to work and for it to be useful. We will have to have something like 1 video a week added to the channel. Which shouldnt be that hard as we all own one of these trucks and since i have owned mine i have done atleast 1 thing to it everyday that im now wishing i had recorded haha.
So for now Im asking everyone that has Youtube channel that has a video related to their IDI to login to the idifordtrucks@gmail.com account and upload their related videos. And the next time you do work on your truck, tag along your little buddy (the camera) videotape, or take pictures and put them in a slideshow and upload them to the youtube channel
