A darksided 48 Chevy COE stakebed recently sold at the Scotsdale auction for 88K! It was a nice clean build, but it was a driver not a trailer queen. 1948 CHEVROLET Lot 430.2 | Barrett-Jackson Auction Company
Who says darksiding ruins the value of a nice truck?

Amen! I've said it before and I'll say it again, there is no such thing as a truck too nice or too original to be darksided! Long live the darkside....

Isn't a 289 Cobra just a darksided AC Ace-Bristol?
You are absolutely correct. Eveyone reveres Shelby, rightly so, but that's exactly what he did. When I was a real young kid of about 5 or 6, my mother bought me a "Dinkey" toy. It was a Ac Bristol. Ever since then I wanted one. I now have a replica with a 429 in it. I appreciate what Shelby did with the car but I was into them long before he even thought about doing that to an AC. What irritates me most is everyone comes running over to my car and asks "Is it real? "well really, do I look like a millionaire? I tell them "no it's unreal"

Did they really think anyone who actually owns an original 429 Cobra would drive it around? (Except possible Jay Leno)
There is a guy here in Erie that has an original 429 in it - He drives it all the time (except rain) during the summer - I can hear him going thru the gears on a stretch of raod about 2 miles from here
Weren't the original Cobras 427's? 429's are a '70's engine.
I don't think the auction posted is "proof" of anything except that a truck with probably 3X the selling price into it sold for good money. Very very few cars bring in more money than than are into them, whether they are classic originals or darksided.
actually if you look closely many of the 427 cobra's in later years were sporting 428 scj's . they just didna tell any one . the bad **** competitions got 427's , and one lucky ***** , the oriental fella's in hollywood knights , the driver in particular , own the one and only 427 sohc monstrosity !! still trying to find info on that critter !!!!!! big block cobra , a real one , is my automotive pornographic fantasy !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
