Whats up guys.
I was just wondering if anyone has used an MSD pro billet dist? They're running a good deal down at the local speed shop by me.There asking $200 for a brand new dist.I looked at Summit and they sell it for $275.
Any info on these dist. would be great.
I am running one in my mustang (with a carb)and wouldn't trade it for anything. I started out with a dura spark distributor from accel and was really disapointed as it was a stock distributor with an accel cap and rotor. My stang only makes 10.5" of vac. at idle and the stock dist. with the vac advance really didn't like it. The cool thing about the pro billet is the fact that you can change the timing curve (how fast you get to total timing) and the total timing (coresponds with your initial timing)which is really nice as every engine combo is a little different. That alone can be worth a few HP with some experimenting. If I remember correctly you have to run an MSD box along with the distributor- check this out before you install unless you are already a 6A or simular. I did see one on ebay witha "buy it now" label for $98.00. Good luck!]

I'm Running The MSD Pro Billet Dist. Since I have a roller cam, I just bought a MSD Dist for a 88 mustange with a TFI ignition. I couldn't tell you if there was a power difference because I installed it with the engine. I know that I havn't had any problems with it! It also is built much better than the stock ford one. I had to go with A Steel gear with the Roller cam. The stock ford is a cast gear. $50.00 for a new gear was worth it for me to buy the entire distributer
[updated:LAST EDITED ON 20-Oct-02 AT 07:43 PM (EST)]Brett was right on about the MSD box and distributor. It was my MSD Blaster 3 coil that required the MSD box to operate. It's been a while since I installed these components. Brett, how did you add the pic of your truck to your auto signature?
