Bill, I did find a number on the water pump pulley you might be able to reference. It has an upper # A8E, then D20E 8509AA.

F10 = F100 2WD

A = 240 1V I-6.

N = Norfolk VA Assembly Plant.

872037 = 1966, assembled June 1966.
-------------------------------------
A8E = Manufactured the 5th (E) week of January (A), 1978 (8). The pulley, not necessarily the engine it came from.

Marked D2OE-8509-AA = Ford part number: D2OZ-8509-A .. W/P Pulley-6 7/32" O/A diameter / Applications:

1972/76 Torino/Montego 302/351W A/C / 1974/76 Cougar 302/351W A/C / 1976/80 Granada/Monarch 302/351W A/C / 1977/78 LTD 302/351W A/C / 1977/79 Thunderbird/Cougar/Ranchero/LTD II (not LTD!) 302/351W A/C.

Wow! Thanks Bill. I think we are getting closer to indentifying this engine. I also found a tag on the power steering gear, HCE-G 128547. I doubt it is the original with this truck. It has a torn rubber coupler that connects the steering shaft to the input shaft of the gear box and needs to be replaced. Where can I get one and what is the correct nomenclature and PN?

that disk

that disk you are referring to is a steering coupler disk you can buy them at any part store that is worth its salt personally im not a big fan of them i remove them and chuck them as far as i can throw them i replace mine with grade 8 bolts from local hardware store and double nut them....you have to leave small amount of slack otherwise your steering will occasionally bind up and thats just as bad as the disk failing in its own rights i have put 30,000 miles on the 2 grade 8s and they have only the slightest signs of wear on them and i was replacing disks every 10,000 but its your choice

Applications: 1965 F100/250 2WD / 1966 F100/250 2WD before serial number 900,001.

HASELDEN BROTHERS in Hemingway SC has 1 = 843-558-2134.

GREEN SALES CO. in Cincinnati OH has 49 = 800-543-4959.

Thanks again Bill,
Any chance you can find out what vehicle the power steering pulley goes to? The number is 5Z-ATA

No such ID number, it's most likely this puppy:

D5ZZ-3A733-A .. Single Sheave P/S Pulley ~ 5 13/16" diameter ~ 1/2" sheave width / Marked: D5ZW-AA or A1A

1975/78 Mustang II 302 with/without A/C / 1978/79 Thunderbird/Cougar/Ranchero/LTD II (not LTD!) 302/351M/351W/400 / 1978/80 Granada/Monarch 302 without A/C / 1978/82 Fairmont/Zephyr 302 with A/C.

1980/86 F100/250 302 / 1981/83 F100/150 255 / 1981/86 F150/350 351W / 1983/86 Thunderbird/Cougar 302 / 1984 Continental Mark VII 302.

Frankenstein monster, similar to real life: Same research scenario, but no parts counter, no greasy parts to match up.
