I have a 93' F-150 and the driver side door panel screws keep falling out over time, I tried going to a size 10 thread and one ended up breaking through the plasting and leaving a nice big hole, and the other fell out after about 3 months again. I used threadlocker stuff and that doesn't seem to help. Is there any alternative to screws or does anyone have any ideas? I'm not particularly worried about the one that busted through as it is the one nearest to the dashboard side, on the bottom. , this happened both sides but it doesn't rattle there anyway, it rattles on the outside bottom and I wan't to get rid of this rattle. Is there any adhesive that would work or how about 3M two sided tape?
Also, I hear this rattling when I hit bumps, almost like a hollow metal sound. Could this be caused by radius arm bushings or mounts, or do you think it is inside the door?
Lastly, I have this squeeking noise on the highway, that almost sounds like when people stop with squeeky brakes, but it only happens when I'm moving, and usually if I accelerate hard, or tap the brakes it stops for a second. Sound like a drum to you guys? I believe I had the right side replaced because it was stuck closed or something, but I don't believe they touched the left because they said it had adequate life left.
A product for metal buildings called "Tacky Tape" would probably be perfect for your door panels & screws; you can probably find it at teacher's supply stores. It's used in schools to hold up posters temporarily. The industry term is "butyl rope sealant".
The sound could be anything. You'll have to get underneath and track it down.
The squeak sounds like brakes. Could be front or rear. Have a friend drive beside you with his windows down and tell you where it's coming from.
I applied construction adhesive to my door panel screw holes to stop my panel screws from backing out.
While your brakes are making thier nose lightly start applying your e-brake and see if the sound changes or stops. If so its in the rears if not look up front.
