Removing the windshield

I want to remove my windshield without breaking it and I want to reuse my weather strip too. to get a rust spot that runs under it, and get it back in. can anyone tell me how to do this.

My suggestion is to get a new weatherstrip and cut the windshield out. I doubt if the old weatherstrip would seal again right if it has any age on it.

If your truck is a 74 to 79 ford pickup, You dont have to cut anything. There is a small rubber piece in the middle of the seal. That is the lock pull that out and the windshield should push out. Sounds easy but its not, It is really easy to crack the glass the curved sides is what makes it hard. if you make sure the rubber is warm streches easer. if your seal is cracked and looking like it will leak then cut it out and buy a new, there not real cheap. good luck

The ease of cracking a good windshield is why I just cut it out. The gasket is cheap compared to a windshield and the new gasket seals a lot better

I've done this a couple of times, and I agree that you should cut the windshield rubber. When it comes time to put it back in put the seal onto the windshield then work the rubber into the window frame, as opposed to working the windshield into the rubber.

Where are you located?
One of my employees brothers is a glass man and will put them in for free and preach to you will he is doing it.
Just messing with ya(but he does do that).
I would get it done professionally, that is if you have never done it b4. A leaky windshield can be aggrevating!
