All the ''additive'' does is lubricate the ''lock up'' clutch in the torque converter, (to avoid TC shudder) I would say it's better to have it in there.........I was the transmission man at the Ford dealer up here but that was back in the early 90s, transmissions have not changed a whole lot since then......just my .02

Gig......Ron.....John.......

Good to see ya guys........

BTW:......... Friday I had the local Ford dealer change oil and fuel filters.

They messed up the fuel filter job.
1. They broke the Primary filter housing taking it off.
........Is this common??
2. Then the Mech didn't tighten the new one enough and I got "low Fuel Pressure" warning after I left the dealer Friday afternoon. Went back and it was corrected.

Year 2013......... Gerry, time to get your new truck!!.....

Glad to see John posting, but kind of bummed that he has been without his truck for so long and Roy having issues with a simple fuel filter change at a dealership. It's upsetting

I sure hope John's truck drives as it should and the transmission shifting meets your satisfaction. Good to see you posting again...

The rest of you degenerates...hi

GIGGER. You are so correct. I retired working at ford dealers. Without that addative would make the vehicle feel like you were going across a washboard road when going into lockup.
Most customers said the engine is skipping.lol

I would have thought with them using synthetic trans fluid in our trucks it wouldnt need the addative.but by the converter locking up 3rd thru 6th it needs all it can get.

Our dealer rents out Fords so when I'm local it's easy.
When I travel out of town, I try to go enterprise because they too make it a painless process.
I have not had as good of experiences with Thrifty or Budget.
Although the latest Budget was more my fault because I didn't see the tiny little sign stating I had to return the car to one of three SPECIFIC spots and the guy was very rude about it since he had to walk a whole one isle over to check the car in.
This was at Colo Springs airport. Kind of funny now.

Enterprise...."oh just park wherever."
