Ding-Ding when does it stop

When I start my 96 Ranger the dinger seem to keep going and going (like the energizer bunny) longer then it used to. It is running okay. And there is no check engine light. It is a:

96
4cyl/5spd
reg cab
longbed
60,000

Should I get the codes pulled? Any ideas, if there are codes where can I find out what they mean?
Thanks for the help.

I had the same porblem with my "96 ranger. Its the door ajar switch which is located in the door latch assembly. A $10 dollar part at the ford dealer, just a pain to put in. Requires you to take the door trim off and work in the confines of the door. some have said that a good lithum spary can make the switch function again, but I'm not into temorary fixes.

Spray some WD-40 into the door switch. My dome light and ding bugged me to death. I sprayed WD-40 into my door and it stopped.

I have the same problem with my 95 ranger. It is the door switch like was mentioned before that is causing the problem. I went out and bought a new switch for it and was going to put it in when I relized how hard it is to get the door panel off without taking the chance of wrecking the panel. I have ruined a couple of the clips that hold the panel on and didn't want to do it to my Ranger. So I got out the trusty WD-40 spared it in the general direction of the switch and it worked fine. It is starting to do the ding ding thing again so out come the WD-40 again.
