hello everyone.i bought a used 93 x.the buttons for 4x4 and low range dont work.when i press them they dont catch and the light does not go on.i want to make sure that im not driving on 4x4.is there a way i can tell?when im driving at a slow speed i feel like a lite grinding under the truck.untill iu speed up and then it goes away.the truck has 78 thousand miles and i dont know what the previous owner did as far as maintenance.also when im turning to my left i can feel the truck wobble slightly.could that be the alignment?thanks in advance.
If you don't trust the 4x4 indicator lights, the main way to test and see if the transfer case is in 4x4 is to see if the front driveline is spinning. Either have someone watch for you while you drive down the road, or get all four wheel off the ground so you can see if the front spins.
As for the other stuff, it probably just needs a good once over to see how everything looks. Check/change all the fluids, check the front suspension/steering. In the process of doing an alignment, a good shop will inspect everything and let you know if something needs replaced.
Oh and welcome to FTE.
