cold air intake question

My truck has a S&B cold air intake on it and I swapped it out for the 6637 system I made using 4" piping. Was that a bad idea?

Nothing wrong with S&B. They make a quality product. Your S&B was likely the washable kind. The 6637 is the disposable kind. I'd say drive it around and see if you notice any difference. Go with whichever one you like better.

Honestly IMO, an intake is an intake as long as it filters the air getting into the motor... Just like an exhaust is an exhaust.

The only differnce I have noticed from the two is the S&B is quite loud. I don't know why but there is a bit more noise

Dont want to pirate your thread but I had a similar question I have a new AEM cold air intake for a 97 tahoe think it would work well on my 95 PSD? (r should I leave it alone and keep it stock till I find a suitable replacement? Sorry again for invading your thread.

Not completely true when regarding the OBS intake, I swapped my 99 filter box to an OBS filter box, and have noticed much better filtration. Now the SD filter box has to be the worse designed piece of junk I have ever seen.

OT dean does your 97 ODO show 430k or did it kick back to 300k when it was time to hit 400k

I know that thread all too well, my theory is it'll keep on rolling past 399,999. So should I still throw on that different intake?

I know nothing of tahoe cold air intakes.... I would stick to the 6637... The filtering is good.. minimal restriction...easy installation... and the replacement filters are cheap. Especially when you have a awesome supplier like Clay who sets us up with 'group buy' discounts on em!
