THey do in deed. I purchased expired ones and they don't work. All my tractor store had was 09 expiration. So I will just buy them online, instead of dealing with that again.
The Fleetguard test strips are made by Cummins, If you've got a Cummins dealer in the area that would be the place to get them.
Really!! I posted that I don't have any luck reading those darn things and just change my antifreeze every 15-20K. I bet mine were expired.
Either that or they weren't for the coolant you're using. They're for the green/blue coolant with DCA4 additives and are not for the red - orange - yellow or purple stuff.
I thought that the extended life coolant was a no no for our trucks? I was looking at the coolants in Autozone and they were all ELC except one. It said it was the original formula, but it has silicate in it. The Prestone ELC coolant I bought says it is silicat/phosphate free, ethylene glycol. Isn't that exactly what is recomended?
The CAT ELC is what we are referencing. The issue that comes up to that the coolant is HOAT and the 94-97 psd's do now have the upgraded seals like the 99's that are capable of running this. Despite that, they run just fine on Cat coolant and I've talked to many guys that have run the coolant for 10+ years and tens, or hundreds of thousands of miles.
