I am looking for a good diesel shop in the Pacific North West. I live just north of seattle and need my truck checked out. I have some mild mods but they include custom tuning and modified injectors. I don't think the dealer is going to be a good place. Issue I am having is smoke and odor at startup. Even excessive odor when warm and parked. also bad economy. I drive it nice but get about 10mpg.
Any recomendations on a real diesel shop that can work with custom tunes?
Does the exhaust burn your eyes? Have you done the CCV mod? First thought are injectors or compression check but more info would be helpful if you wanted to try to look into the issue your self.
I would say irritates more then burns, its not quite that bad. I have not done the CCV modifications.
I have been chasing this for years, but not hard. I have replaced the motor with an remaned long block so I sure hope its not compression related. I have the tester but haven't re tested since the new motor. I have about 10k on the new motor now, maybe 13k on the injectors and they were retested by a local injector shop when I swapped the motor.
Personally I think my tune is not right but I can't really prove it without special tools.
