3.73 vs 4.10

I've got a 93 f150 with 6" lift and 35" tires, which of these gear sets can I expect to see the best mpg increase from with my stock 3.55s?

With the 5.0 i would go 4.88 , it likes the higher rpms , if its between 3.73 - 4.10 , go with the 4.10s....your not going to get alot of mpg with a 6in lift and 35s , thats just the way it is.....

I'm just hoping to see a gain over the 10 I'm getting now. I'd be happy with 12-13 mpg.

you wont see much more than 10 no matter what you do. 12-13 is a 20-30% increase in mileage, which wont come from a gear swap alone. the 302 doesnt like movin stock tires, let alone 35's. . .i agree with lew i'd go with somethin in the mid-high 4's. i never got over 11 with my 302 no matter what tires i ran, and i have 33's, 35's and 37s that i swap depending on what im doing.

your not going to be happy until you ditch the lift and run stock tires then.

You need 4.30 gears just to get back to the stock final drive ratio.. which is still a bit high for a rather gutless 5.0, so 4.56 would be my suggestion as well.
And.. if you haven't done so already do yourself a favor and recalibrate the speedo.

First, don't bother wasting your time or money with 3.73's. They are too close to your 3.55's to make a difference.

4.56's are the closest to stock tires & 3.55's. 4.56's are probably your best bet unless you do mostly off road / city driving. Then I would do 4.88's.

I'm also interested in a similar swap from 3.55 to something different? I've done some research and am thinking about 4.10s. Question is, do I need to get a c-clip eliminator kit? I've not found a sure answer to that. And where do you guys reccomend to get all the parts? Cheaper is better but dont necessarily want junk parts. May have to resort to that.

No, you don't need C-Clip eliminators.

I've got the 5.8. What do you think I should run? Truck has 36's on it and is only used in town and off road. Top speed it will ever be driven is about 55

It's not entirely gutless. I did a mass airflow conversion on it a couple of years ago with a mustang gt computer. I also have plans to swap out the cam. But I do concur, the 5.0 in the trucks, sucks.
