Yep, that what I started with. No aftermarket suppliers offered a chrome one, so i decided to try a new chroming outfit in the area with a spare piece. Just a little something different. I still liked the argent look too.

Might i add... your interior looks VERY nice. You did a great job!

Thanks, Dano, my body man painted everything green when he painted the exterior. I painted the stuff that should be black (steering column, brake/clutch pedals, ebrake, heater) and the stuff that should be silver (kick panel retainers, cowl vent handle, dimmer switch and heater grille) with spray cans. The plastic ***** I painted gloss black rather than buying repro ones. My seat vinyl dates back to 1977!!! It is now starting to show its age and the batting is falling out so I have to get it re-done. I can't find an inexpensive look alike material yet.

Thanks!

The motor i got from Napa sure puts out some wind! I don't think I'll be experiencing window defrost problems... that's for sure. Might be having an F1 tornado in the cab of my F100.

Do you have a Napa part number for the blower motor? Everytime I ask a local napa to look up a blower motor that will work they can't seem to find any.

Err.... yeah let me see if I can find the reciept. The NAPA stock# may be different than what is printed on the motor. Here's a pic of the motor and it's numbers--

VDO- PM322

Now the shaft of the motor is a little larger. I just drilled out the squirel cage a little bit to match the shaft. Everything else about the motor worked fine. I just swapped the old back plate right onto the new motor.

To add... the heater works AWESOME. Lots of air and defrosters work really good. The motor is a little noisy, but i think alot of that is just because of the open design of the heater. With the truck running, you don't even notice it.

Mine does not have the have that hole.

If anyone is looking for a complete fresh air heater I have one here in Texas. Just PM me.

Hello, I just went through this in the reverse. A 56 heater is not the same by a long shot. Not only is the motor a different voltage but the defroster ducks are a different size. The 53 through 55 used two types of plenums. The magic air had the long one. The 56 had only one for both types of heaters. The 56 plenum can't be swapped with the 53 and 55 heater bodies as they are a different size too. Hope this helps.

looks like an original heater for a 48-49. I think in 50 or late 50 you could have the magic air fresh air option. there wherw probably a half dozen other aftermarket or dealer option heaters then too if i remember right? someone who knows will correct me if im wrong.

Interesting. I wondered why peoples heaters looked different than the one I pulled out of my truck. I have a fresh air heater. On a side note, are heater parts common? Or any reason to hold on to the unit i pulled out of my truck?

my heater(in 49 f1) ...silver with horizontal bars and a small F.....I noticed a 1950 F1 for sale that had the same heater...so I thought maybe it was the recirculating heater used in the chicago build f1 half tons......
p.s.
There must be a adapter that plugs into the top of the heater and hoses to the defrost....but my truck doesn't have.....

im not familiar with the 53 and up truck heaters. my 53 just has a standard 'ford" embossed heater like i have seen in a broad year range of trucks. the 54 c800 parts beast had what looked like a more standard heater "original" for that era. I think its a fresh air unit? I need to sell it, too many parts piling up.

I didnt notice that! your right. looks like your missing the defrost duct connector.
Ive got one you can have if you want. the heater case is rusted up and the thing is for parts. ill probably pull the core out and maybe the motor if not froze up and scrap the rest.
