Chris
Too much of the water works. (IMO a little fake)
As for their music i have never liked it,I don't think Maines can carry a tune if she tried.
Isn't Air Brushing AMAZING???? ALL major Mags Do It.
I too passed on watching it last night. Just couldn't pass watching the ABC video clip on the net tonight. "Inquiring Minds Want to KNOW".
I TOO, was Not impressed & Agree with the WIZ, Too Much Water & not Enuf Sincerity.
They may be Best friends, BUT... they have had to Fight to take Control of their careers from their publishers & have been Beloved Icons for Years. They earned the Privledge of singing the National Anthem @ Super Bowl 2003. WHAT have they worked FOR, all these years??? To throw it ALL away over Maines GROSS STUPIDITY?
I AGREE with their Freedom of Speech stand. This IS their Right in America. BUT, As Public Icons, Tack & Diplomacy should Temper their statements in a Foreign Domain, as was the case-in-fact.
Maines has always been loved for her SPUNK & TENACITY....NOT her IGNORANCE or IMPROPRIETY on such a Volitile, National level. (In another country, this would be considered Treason).
IMHO, they deserve to Suffer their Improprieties & Deserve the Work to regain the public trust & faith in what they Willingly have "carelessly thrown to the wind".
I do like their music, but will not support them for time to come.
I've read many articles refering to their "right to Free Speach", but not one of those articles hits the mark. Yes, they have a right to say what they want about the President of the United States. That's not really the argument. The fact is that the Dixie Chicks used a public forum in a foreign land to ridicule the President for the sole purpose of getting a rise from the crowd. That's cheap theatrics and shows a lack of character. Therefore, I will use my right of Free Speach to not give them my hard earned money.
By the way, the only reason they are appoligizing is that they got caught.
No, the reason they're apologizing is because business sucks. They can say what they please, where they please; just don't "bitch" when your business is hit. Their statement about Bush was childish. Their blond roots must run deep.

You hit the nail on the head. I have no respect for that. Furthermore, getting naked on the cover of a magazine with the epithets they were SUPPOSEDLY called all over them is just trashy and disrespectful.
I love this feeling among these "celebrity" war protestors that their rights are being violated just because we choose not to spend our money on their products (movies, TV shows, music). If the president of my company spoke out about something unpopular my company would pay the price for it, too.
Sometimes these same "celebrities" protest individual companies. I wonder if they feel that the workers of that company are having their rights violated when they lose their jobs because some "celebrity" trashed the image of their company? It's the same thing they are complaining of which makes them all hypocrites.
You are correct about the apology and their business. That's what I was refering to when I said they are apologizing because they got caught. If they were not caught, their business would be just fine and no apology would be forthcoming.
