Looking for a steering column and box

Hey All,

I buddy of mine is looking for a complete steering column and box for his project. He said that he wanted something from a '48-56 pick up. We are in the San Diego area, can anyone help out?

Thanks,
Jack

Damn, I'm getting ready to pull mine out and toss them. Unfortunately there's only two folks in here further from you than me.....

Good luck.

ferguson777,

Well it is bad luck that you are all the way up in the great white north. I am sure though that someone maybe able to help out yet. If anyone has anything let me know so that I can see if it is going to work for my friend. '48-56 steering column and box.

Thanks,
Jack

Jack,
From a former SDSU student (lived at 63rd & El Cajon!)...

Try Turner's Auto Wrecking in Fresno. They ship and their prices are pretty good. Ask for Mr. Turner (he quotes the best prices compared to his help, the younger guys, who quote higher prices). His number in Fresno is: (559)237-0918. If you need the hoses, fittings, etc... mention that to him. He usually throws it all in for the same price. Cool old man who's been in the biz over 50 years!

Good luck,
Daryl

Looking for a steering column and box

Jack,

I have one out of my 48 that is already boxed up and ready to be mailed. I thought I had it sold, but have not heard from that person in about a week, so if I do not hear from him very soon, it will be for sale again. Email me if you're interested at New_Hampshire_Yankee@Yahoo.com. The shipping isn't as bad as you might think. I got a quote to send this one from New Hampshire to Arizona for about $35.00.

believe it or not, what we used to throw in the scrap pile is worth alot to streetrodders. Guys building resto-rods desperately want the steering boxes and columns from our trucks. To the cars from the thirties, our steering is an upgrade! (Insert laughter)These guys might be willing to trade something you need for your truck for those parts. Check prices on Ebay.

Hey Guys,

Thanks for all the help and support. I am going to give all the info to my buddie and let him decide what he wants to do. By the way I think that he is building a rod for himself out of a late 20's ford. I'll let you know what happens.

Thanks,
Jack
