Hi there. Haven't posted in awhile. I was going to put my truck ('08 F-250 V-10 crew 4x4) into storage for about 6-7 months while I am out of the country. I was looking for some tips for storage from some folks out there. Unfortunately I don't have anyone to who can just drive it to work once a week or so. It will be garaged. Any suggestions?
This is just the things I do, I was always told to do these ever since I was in my teens and going to store my truck for anytime.
1) WASH TRUCK!!!
2) Put Stable GS Treatment in tank (they make the stuff for ethanol now which makes it even more important)
3) Fill up gas tank and make sure all fluids are good
4) Make sure tires are all properly inflated
5) When you get it into the storage garage, put it up on jackstands to get the pressure off the tires (this just helps to keep the tires from dry rotting)
6) If there is going to be any worries of a rodent problem plug off air intake and exhaust also if possible plug the cab air intake. ( I had a lot of critters store shelled corn in my cab air intake, I was getting pelted every time I had defrosters on)
7) Disconnect the battery (OR) install a float carger that will keep your battery at peak level
And lastly
8) Securely lock it up and make sure the storage garage is also securely locked (and paid for if it is a rental unit!!)
Good Luck while you are gone, Hope it is safe on your return!!
