So I want to begin piecing together the 4x4 parts that I will need for my 4x4 conversion on my truck hopefully this summer, if not next.
I found a guy on Craigslist that is selling a 1989 F150 4x4 O/D tranny. He says it will fit into an 86-93 Ford truck. He got the tranny from a damaged truck that he had bought for the engine, and that truck had 87,000 miles at time of removal.
So my question is would this 89 4x4 tranny easily swap into place of my 2WD AOD tranny, once I get all the other 4x4 parts of course.
I'm assuming you're talking about an auto trans.
If its an aod then it will go right in.
If its an e4od then you'll have computer issues
If its a c6 (not OD but the junk guy could be wrong) then it will go in but may need flexplate.
And if you're swapping to a manual then any of them will work.

Yeah my truck's 2WD tranny is auto, and I'm just wanting to swap a 4x4 auto in place of it.
He just says that it's an "O/D" in the listing. I would have to call him up and ask if it's an AOD or not.
