2.5L quits running
I'm looking at buying a 1997 Ranger 2wd normal cab, non AC truck with an automatic. The owner has replaced plugs, wires, fuel filter etc....The truck has been sitting for 4 months because he hasn't been able to get it running properly. The truck starts up like a champ instantly, but sounds like it runs with a miss, the kicker is once it's up and running and give it a good quick hard rev once it's on the way back down it dies. It will start right back up and idle just like before and with a quick hard rev dies...etc..etc..etc...kind of wondering what could possibly be causing this? I've had some thoughts on a bad coil pack, possible fuel blockage etc...all feedback is welcome. Thanks

-read codes
-fuel pressure test
-do the normal maintenance, ie, fuel filter, air filter, clean TB, IACV, MAF
-check coils for resistance or swap them
