Rough Ride 2006 HD F 150
#16
Thanks for the replies after reading these and looking at the stock photos on here I can see the difference in ride hieght. I love the look also, but this went from being my weekend driver to daily so I have to get it to ride better. So now I know what to do any recomendations on what kind of shocks and springs to put back on if they were changed. I want to ask before I go out and buy them like I did the tires and find out they are junk like these perellis tires I paid 1200+ for.
I'm pretty sure on these trucks though you will need struts and I don't have any idea who would make a set. Maybe someone else will.

If you can get a good picture of the front control arms and spring It should be really easy for people to tell If it's lowered. I suspect that you can get away with either having it lowered or 22 inch rims and still have a good ride but if you combine the two it's likely to get pretty bumpy. In order to fix it I would decide which is more important to you and change the other one.

Since you left out specifics, I decided to go ahead and fill them in for ya. How are those other forums treating you?

hahaha.. You got me you are right that would ride smoother if they are using like tread patterns. You gotta admit this is at least entertaining a few people while maybe causing them to think a little more than normal.

Its what I was told by a local wheel dealer. He said 20 and 22 have smoother rides but 17 and 18 have better handling. Just quoting what someone passed on to me. Feel free to do what ever you want with it.

fair enough well fyi 20s and 22s will typically ride a little rougher but handle a lot better. 17s and 18s will typically ride a lot better but the handeling can be a little more vague. The exception to the rule is what MC said

The smaller the sidewall (to a point) the better it will handle. The HD trucks have different shocks which allow it to ride smoothly with the 22" rubber band tires. Stiffer shocks and lighter springs. Now if you put the same tires on an FX4 it may not ride as smooth. The tires, wheels and suspension on the HD trucks is designed to work together. Ride quality, NVH, and handling were all considered when they designed it I'm sure.

Strange things happen around this joint. I went searching not long ago for some pictures of a guys truck on here only to find out that all post by him, pictures of his truck, and the username have been erased from the database for some reason.
