Well I was having lots of problems with my rear end previously with all the DJM equipment I used on it. Turns out I had bent the flip brackets and it caused my pinion angle to go out of whack and would vibrate at certain speeds. Then I discovered my u-bolts were no good and lost their hold.
I scooped up some nice 1.5" drop steeda coils from the lightning forum and put those in on top of my 3" drop beams. So I then wanted to lower th rear more and was going to get the belltech kit and then found a guy on f150forum selling the c-notch and belltech drop springs on ebay and I snagged those for under $100.
Decided to go through everything while I had the bed off and well here's pics.
and this is how she sits now ( I love it and it rides better than factory) I also run doetch tech shocks. They squeeked pretty bad on the rear due to urethane bushings but I later discovered I can use lithium grease in the aerosol can and loosen the mounts some so the bushings aren't completely squeezed. Squeek went away
no engine work mechanical wise, just has aluminum valve covers, amsoil EA air filter, lower intake tube from 6cyl and upper tube from MAF engine, saginaw power steering swap, ceramic shorty headers, magnaflow y-pipe, summit h-pipe, and a magnaflow muffler powermaster alernator and motercraft 8mm wires.
I was going to drive it mostly summer time as a commuter until the engine wouldnt go no more. I believe it has under 120k miles still and I didnt want to tear into a motor that still has life left. Once it gives, I am going to cam it, bore it and go from there.
i think it actually looks really good with the stock rims
Yeah i kinda like them, they have been painted numerous times. I just dont like the factory tire, it looks to 4x4ish and rubs the inner fenders if I hit a dip just right.
Yeah, I get that a lot too. Not so much on here but where I live. Its a po' dunk honky town with people and their 20$k horse trailers and $50 horses and giant trucks.
Sadly there are a few dirt roads, but nothing I cant drive on.
And there are about 5-6 guys local that have lowered Ford from mid 60's to 70's. A lowered long bed looks good IMO. They are not seen and have a look that you have to "double take" to get the full effect
