Bronco pulling Bronco
Here's the info from the seller on the latest one: '87, 4.9 six, 4-speed manual, rebuilt engine about 1-1/2 year ago, Blaupunkt CD player, A/C works, rear window works with a little help. All in all a pretty solid truck. It just needs a tranny. It drives, but I can't tell you how far it's going to go b4 dying. Needs a few other cosmetics.
All that for $250
I'm pretty sure I'm going to turn this around and give it to my brother, so I've got a few questions about the 4-speed tranny:
Is there one that's better than another, like the 5-speed conversation of yesterday?
What should a rebuild cost? (Worst case scenario)
I'm guessing that a truck 4-speed is the same deal - is that the case? If so, we'll just go find a bone-yard tranny.
Thanks

Welcome to the Towing forum! Can you give us a little more info on your 1989 tow Bronco?
- Transmission: auto or M5OD?
- Axle ratio?
- Hitch type: Class III or bumper hitch?

Automatic Overdrive - rebuilt about a year ago.
- Axle ratio?
Not sure, I drove it today and can go look.

Class III
I would like to put it on a U-Haul type car trailer. One of the full ones, not just a dolly.
If you have weight distribution bars for your class III hitch, use them. Otherwise since it sounds like you don't have too far to go, do as other's have already adivised. Take it slow and easy and give yourself plenty of room to stop. Remember a Bronco is not an ideal tow vehicle because it's a light duty truck with a short wheelbase.
