Time to work on the Bed

Well I have gone throught the rest of the truck and have only the Bed to bring back from the rust graveyard. I want to install a wood bed in my 49 F-1 and know that a kit is out their to help with the install. Has anyone used this and is it really needed? I have seen Mack Hill makes all the parts (crossmembers, siderails) I will need has anyone used these?
