Is the Super Duty getting a Cat diesel engine for 2014?

There is NO WAY a CATERPILLAR engine is going to be offered in a Ford pickup.
2 reasons
1
CAT was asked by Ford when the 6.0s were having problems, if they would be interested in making a diesel for their pickup. CATs response was, Ford sells more diesel pickups in ONE year than CAT make diesel engines in a year(marine, truck, equipment, stand-alone). CAT would never be able to keep up with the demand.
2.
CAT is NO LONGER making ON-ROAD diesel engines. They were sick of trying to keep up with the emissions. Even "their" new CAT tractor trailer, is running a INTERNATIONAL engine

Nice first post 7 1/2 years after joining. The new diesel trucks are much more enjoyable to drive, i wouldnt want anything older than an 07. I have owned 2 6.0's and loved em both. Unfortunately diesel trucks didnt fit for me anymore and have had to downsize to a car.

As for the original question, I saw a car tech show on tv a few years ago and they were talking about Ford using the cat engine and that the deal fell apart because cat wanted their name on the truck like the Cummins and Ford refused. After all the work they have put in the 6.7 I don't see them changing engines again anytime soon.

Just to throw this out there, the 6.0 was not built for it's release date power output. Ford couldn't release a lower hp/trq rating in the diesel wars with GM so they pushed the output past the intended original rating on the engine. This is what I was told. Hence the fact that it was designed with less and weaker head bolts than needed. I think the the cab and chassis 6.0 were rated lower than the consumer trucks, no?

Of course there was a big lawsuit over Navistar denying some claims, but if your statement was correct there would be no claims filed because there would be no warranty.

Sheer speculation and conjecture at its finest. Navistar wouldn't warrant an engine that was made to make more power than it was designed for. But they did, which blows that theory out of the water.

Caterpillar no longer makes on road diesel due to the fact they are sick of trying to meet emissions. Also, Ford went to CAT back in 06 and asked about building them a light truck engine. CAT told ford, they could NOT keep up with their engine demands.,that ford sells more diesel pickups in ONE year, than CAT even makes diesel engines for ALL their applications. And besides, I think Ford has hit a home run with the 6.7
