Well today I found a leak near the housing and I thought it was a cracked housing. Coolant appeared to be spraying around it. It wasn't but it was the heater hose. It had about a 1/2" slit in it. I replaced the hose and started pouring coolant in only to find that it continued to leak. So here is my question, is the pressed steel fitting that the hose connects to replaceable or what. This one is corroded and I can't afford to have this truck down, I haven't ever had the motor apart and I don't want to take it apart to fix something so small but important. The motor is a 351M.
I can't tell if it is threaded or not. I thought about using a blow torch but it is right next to the fuel line. I tightened the clamp down on it and cleaned up the area so that it doesn't leak right now. I think I could just throw some Jb weld around there and that would seal it right up. It is pretty rusted up but its holding it shape so it can't be that bad. I am not losing water anywhere else and the other hose is pretty bad so I have to replace that one too. I drove it to school today and its not leaking now but we will see.
