Which Gasket?
I have a 96 EB Bronco and a chrome differential cover for the rear. Problem is, I want to replce the gasket and I don't know how to tell which gasket fits mine. The gaskets come in a cardboard box and "Non-returnable if opened" is printed on the side so I can't open one and match it up to the new cover. At the auto parts store I had to choose between one for a WDB or WDR axle or one for a WAC or WFM axle. Now here's the kicker, the ONLY tag on my differential includes nothing with a "W" in it. Here's the Number on the tag:

The next tag closest to it is on the transfer case. Help me out I'm ready to get this thing on!!!

Which Gasket?
RTV works very well, but if you want a gasket, it just needs to fit an 8.8" Ford axle. Far as I know, all the 8.8 gaskets are the same. I had the same trouble, and I told them I needed one for an 8.8" and they gave me one for a Dana. I've got a cork one on my truck, and a cardboard one on my dad's, and neither one leaks. I also have black rtv on an s10, and no leaks. The gasket may be easier to clean up next time you take the cover off as opposed to scraping all the rtv off of there. Oh well, 6 or 1/2 dozen of the other is all the same.

For about half the price you can buy a sheet of gasket material and cut your own. Every gasket on my t-case is done that way. I'd also do what everyone else said, use RTV.
