No heat

So my heater is not working and i have no idea where to go or what to check from here. The things that ive done so far is use a smoke machine to check for leaks in the vacume lines and discovered that the ac/heat vacume control switch was bad. being unable to get one from the auto part store i went to the junk yard and pulled one off another vehicle that looked in really good shape and put it on. this didnt fix the no heat problem. today i replaced the heater core after talking to some people and all deciding that it could be my problem. now it is still not heating like it should but after replacing it i went for a drive and i could tell that it was trying and would blow hot for a few seconds and then go back to cold, and it would do this off and on but overall theres still no heat. does anyone here know what else it could be or know where else i can check to try and get it working right?

First....are you getting hot water flowing thru the heater core.....

Second.....does selecting different air flow positions inside change the air flow....

Third....any hot air flowing anywhere.....floor/defrost/vents....

As far as the core goes ill have to check tomorrow i know that there is hot water going through the hoses because both are hot. the one that is closer to the finder is hotter than the other not sure if that make a diffrence.

yes the are blows good in all positions defrost, floor and dash vents. i have noticed that if i turn it off for about a minute or so ill get hot air but then it goes right to cold.

Sounds like the blend door is bad. May need a new actuator or possible vac issue there.

Maybe some help here...

Yeah me too and it happened again today while replacing the rear window motor I was having a hard time getting the new one in the I figured out there was an easier way so I removed to height selector and got it where I could work with it and the new motor went right in. 4 hours of work for nothing.

Yeah it just coolant levels but it seem like I'm going through a lot of coolant I don't have any leaks that I can tell and I'm not seeing or smelling any sighs of it getting into the oil. Kinda stumped on this one
