I can't remember what brand of doorlocks it was I used on my crew but they came from Electriclife ( the people who sell the pwr windows)
They were extremely easy to install. The wiring harnesses were a little more difficult. I had to lenghten some of the harnesses because they were not desighned for a crew.
Also I am experimenting with the electric locks found in the ford vans I think I might be able to modify those to work in the 73-79 trucks. If so it would be quite a bit cheaper to access them out of the wrecking yard.
The one neat thing about the kit is I was able to add an alarm module with keyless remote entry and key fobs and now I have keyless remote on my truck.
I have used factory systems for all of my trucks. On my crewcab, I grabbed all of the lock solenoids and switched out of a Tuarus (around a 90 or so). All you have to do is drill 1 hole to mount the solenoid to the door. If you look at the latch in the door, you will see that there is an empty hole that will accept the plastic holder that connects to the metal rod from the solenoid (you have to see it to understand).
The wifes Bronco, I used the locks out of an 87 Bronco.
My Supercab, I used the locks out of an 88 Ford truck.
If you can install the aftermarket locks, you can install the factory locks. Pretty straight foward. Mounting the switches are left up the imagination of the installer.
I have a 78 Ford Crew Cab and I installed the AutoLoc Brand electric door locks. They were a breeze to put in and they have been working for about two years now without a flaw. I didn't even have to lengthen the harness. I would highly recommend these to anyone. I got aweful tired of trying to climb over the seat to lock the doors.
