Hey, I forgot to mention. My 6V tach arrived yesterday. I can't wait to get it installed.

LOL! Yep, gotta spend time with my truck.
When you are between two houses, it can be a pain. I had to go back and forth a bunch to get my tach installed.
It's still not mounted but I did get it wired up and tested.
Once I get it mounted, I will take a drive and see what actual rpm's are for what speed.

Gotta wash the engine, so I can see where the oil leak is coming from. I've got an oil pan gasket, hopefully that will be it.

Tell me what you had to do to hook it up.

Here is one of those stupid questions What does the Tac connect too? I want to install one eventually. Be careful, I don't see any "Red Line" on that Tac!

It has two connectors and instructions for 6V positive ground and 6V negative ground.
I ran a wire to each side of the coil and that was all that was needed.
The 6V negative ground instructions said to run one wire to the coil and the other just to ground. I need to scan the instructions although they are simple. Funny he doesn't have the 6V instructions on his web site.
I have a mounting bracket and I will drill a couple of holes on the underside of the dash lip. I will also bend the bracket a little so it is angled up some for easier viewing.

I plan on mounting it just on the right side of the steering column. That will keep it out of the way and still where I can see it clearly. I considered putting it under the starter button, but figured that would get in the way any time I wanted to look at my fuse panel.

This did get me thinking about that grommet, Dave. I have no idea how you would run the entire harness through there. poking individual wires was hard enough.

I got my tach mounted this weekend and took it for a short spin. I'm actually running higher rpm's than I calculated.
It looks to be about 3750 rpm's at 50 mph. My calculations should have me about 3000 rpm's at 55.
I downloaded a speedometer app and confirmed my speedometer is correct.
Here is the video, my speedometer seems to be bouncing more lately, I need to lube the cable.
That is very surprising. It's a new tach, so I assume it is correct. It has my idle speed at about what I expected

Interesting.

How is your truck running with the key in the off position? Is your ignition switch turned to the left a bit?

Yep, it's a bit to the left. Last time I tried to straighten the switch it just fought to get back to that position, so I didn't argue with her on it.

Agreed. If it works don't change it. When my windshield wiper bezel is in the correct position the wipers work intermittingly. This OK if it is a light rain. And this was before intermittent wipers were invented! The bezel works it's way to the left. Then the wipers work fine. I can't explain it!

Hey guys, I'm still alive. Adjusting to my new life. Hopefully things will settle into a routine before long. Moving from a modern home to an 1880's Victorian with no central air has been a challenge. The yard is huge and I'm not much of a lawn care guy.
We had a storage shed and carport built and the shop is now full concrete and Sarah has a basketball pad. (Man concrete is pricey)
Before:
After:
Sarah is the one in the black headband standing. A bunch of girls walked home from school with her and they had a 4 team 2 on 2 tournament.

To pour the concrete in the shop I had to clear everything out. Including my nephews boat. It was a challenge because of the size and location of the shop door. I also had to use a bumper jack to lift the trailer tongue high enough to get to my bumper ball. I was able to back it into the carport pretty easily. Considering my trailer skills, I was proud of myself.

I ran to town the other day and got a load of mulch. My overload springs were touching, not sure if they were doing much work though. I was more worried about the air in the tires. I keep them around 32 lbs for easier ride and didn't add more before this trip.

I bought a Reese adjustable trailer hitch. I will start a new thread on that soon. I have a couple of questions on attaching it.
We are off today to head to Bolivar (2 hours one way) to take my dad out for lunch for his 80th birthday.
Hopefully I will be back on here more before long. It's been a crazy last 6+ months. First Mother's day without my wife's mom was tough on her. Well, moving in with her dad is also something to get used to .

Good to see you back. A new man cave and more space now you will be able to enlarge your fleet. I think there are a few enablers on here that can help out with that. Looking good.

Welcome back Joe. I was getting very close to checking on you! I have't been very active either. Still waiting on the paint guy. Should be any day now. Your move looks like a good choice. You will love that shop. Hopefully you can get some air in the house soon as we all know what are summers can be like. Also good to see the truck working as it should. Put some heat in that shop and you'll be set to work year round.

Good to have you back and sharing with us your major life changes. Next time you are loaded that heavy, have the forklift driver position the load farther forward.

Glad you checked in Joe. One of these days I need your help installing my front and rear windshield.

Ray & Dave did either of you go to the Grand Nationals?
