Just returned from a great 14 days in Southern California. Flew to LAX, took over a (Ford V10 powered) 30' RV, went down to San Diego (incl. the Del Mar Goodguys Rod Event), toured some nice State and Nat'l parks incl. Death Valley, ended the trip with two days at the Beach in Ventura and then two days in a Hotel in Marina Del Ray. Good stuff ...
Even so it was family vacation I had that one day at the Goodguys event. Quite a few old Ford trucks. Here are a few shots which I thought are nice.
Modified to the max. I don't like it but guess a lot of work went into it.
Nice hauler and it is a 54, too.
Clean engine. Nice. Too nice for me, but ...
Cool wheels. Halibrands or lookalikes. Guess they would even look cool on my flat orange 54.
... also had time to swing by at Vintage Ford on Beach Blvd. in Stanton. I am going there every once in a while since more than 15 years. Nothing has changed and the owner drives a nice (and pretty stock) 53.
'fenders, ... just in case you are listening. I bought the mechanism for the cowl vent there. Now I have to make me these hinges. I took some photos on their 53. Guess I can do it. However, I did not ask for vent windows as I know you are working on them for me. No rush.
... ooh well, this was one cool trip and after two days in the office I am ready to go again.
I didn't know you were visiting my neck of the woods Kai! I passed on that event for other shenanigans! Wish I would have known you were coming! =) Great pics. That yellow truck is a Bobco built truck that made its debut last year at my truck clubs North South Run in Santa Maria. It IS a nice truck (not my style either....too nice! LOL).
Too bad you werent in CA in August! The North South Run is coming up again....talk about a plethora of trucks....nowhere near Pigeon Forge though!

Kai
Thats nice you have a cowl vent I guess. Only thing better is if you had taken the free one you stepped over when entering my kitchen last month. Oh well, I'll get the vents to you someday.
Yeah, ... wish I had more influence on going places the time I want to go places. However, business and family also have a say. That's life. ...
'fenders, ... oooh, that was that part I almost fell over and almost broke my neck on ?!?!? Guess my shades were too dark and I did not see it. Well, ... bad luck, but ...
Sorry missed you. I'm from L.A. but now live only 2.5 hours northeast of L.A. and I have friends that live in Marina Del Rey. I was in L.A. this past Easter weekend. Bummer; wish I had known you were "in the hood".
Daryl
P.S.- did you ever contact that guy from Germany who sent that weird E-mail that I forwarded to you???
Kai I'd have invited you and yours over for lunch or something had I known you were in town. I went to the Good Guys show too, 20 minute drive, funny how the pictures I took look just like yours. I did get some of the baby blue 63 in one of the buildings. I was disapointed to see alot of gm powered trucks though, but what are you gonna do. Hope you enjoyed your visit, Rich.
if you look on my gallery page ive included a couple pics of the cowl hinges on my 54 without the linkage or the vent installed hope this helps also i have a question for you what year of bench seat are you using? i seem to remember you saying you got one out of a f250 truck well thanks for any info
Daryl, ... yeah, would have been great to get together. However, it was family vacation and my "Ford" time was limited to two Mustang shops and then Vintage Ford. If I ever make it to LA for business again I will for sure make sure I meet whoever is close by. Yes, I contacted the guy but never had a response.
Rich, ... thanx for the invitation.
I will post it here when I go to the US again. Guess my next business trip will take me to Boeing in Seattle. The only one of you that I met personally was Mr. 'fenders. I very much enjoyed that and could have stayed many more hours just talking and staring at his fine truck.
Fordgo, ... I'll for sure take a look at your pics. Thanx for the hint. My bench is out of a 1980 Ford F350. It is a tight fit, but works fine. I did make me two adapters (one per side) out of square tubing in order to use the stock mounting of both, the bench and the 54 F100. Looks like it came like that. Just needs some paint. I could take a pic if you want ?!?!? Just let me know.
