i changed the clutch on my 2000 7.3 when it got really bad, when i pulled out the old clutch 1 spring had broke out and another one was half out, the pilot bearing was literally gone and there was metal shavings everywhere in there. (this was a week after i bought the truck) i also changed the master and slave cylinder prior to changing the clutch. once it was all together it seemed perfect for about a day, then started grinding a little bit when shifting, mostly going into third, but other gears also. shift forks mabey??
well i didnt take much time to look at it but seemed fine to me, after i got it together i heard the clutch fork is weak for my year of truck, i suppose ill have to pull the tranny again either way
check the rod where the master clips on under the dash, if it is run with a bad bushing it will eat up the rod on the pedal,(this fixes that problem) ( FORD Clutch Rod End PERMANENT Repair powerstroke too. | eBay ) also check where the shaft goes through the pedal box, those bushings wear out and elongate the hole in the pedal box.
