i was wondering if anyone has installed mechanical gauges on there a pillar instead of using the digital ones u get with ur programmers. i am intrested in installing them in my truck like i had in my 06. i hav never seen any 6.4 with gauges mounted on the apillar.
Mechanical guages are not as accurate as the digital stuff. Also, with all the sensors, they are all monitored digitally.
It can probably be done. but with something like a Scangauge II, it is small compact, you can mount most anywhere and it plugs directly into your ODB port. I have well over 30 functions that I can monitor if needed. I like the mechanical gauge look as I farmed for half my life and still like the look. But functionallity, the digial monitoring is faster and more precise, and as you get older, easier to read! I need the info and not the look anymore.

The Edge Insight CTS monitors EGTs as well as several others on the market. I like the OBDII readers. I also like having the driver side handle on the pillar. Here is a pic of mine just after install.
Yes, it does monitor EGT's. It will monitor before the catalyst, after the catalyst and after the DPF Temps. Anywhere that has a sensor, it can monitor in real time down to 1 sec intervals.

THANKS! been looking for awhile now and I like the some and there are so many choices and prices it is hard to narrow it down. I have been using the ultra guage but the screen has craped out and the suction cup doesnt work in the cold.

where did you mount yours?
For me, it has been the best 159 bucks I have spent todate. It is very low profile, as I have mine sitting on top of the steering column. It has helped me on my fuel mileage also as it gives realtime fuel consumption, fuel economy and etc. I needed something till the warranty runs out and then move on to bigger and better things. I do need to add that to monitor the EGA's, EGT's and DFT's and others you will have to use the Xgauge functions. There is a set of programming codes to input to monitor these sensors. It will take a half hour or so to do this as there is no computer interface to do a direct input of the programming. I have other functions programmed such as fan speed, exhaust back pressure, voltage, transmission temp, water temp, Engine Oil Temp, I have yet to get the fuel pressure sensor to work, but still working on that one.
Mechanical gauges to me are a choice that does denote a better look and has the old style feel. I can relate to the OP and mechanical guages, it seems to add that "super duty" feel to your truck.
