That's a shame you live so far away, but I would think the switch should have power all of the time since you get the door ajar light all of the time (even with the key out of the ignition).
So I didnt get the door switch replaced yet because my local dealer wanted $56 for the switch. Besides that it was way too cold up here over the weekend to tackle that with no heat in the shop. I did notice something a little odd yesterday though. While standing with the drivers door open looking in my truck I saw my brake controller flashing the number setting at me. No pattern to it at all. I was trying to count how long between the flashes but there was no pattern at all. Theres so many wires up under there all nicely taped or in a sleeve that this looks like I may need a wiring diagram to see where I need to be looking.
ok guys I finally got the truck in to work with me and have it apart. The door switches seem to be working just fine. Problem is they are working backwards. With drivers door open I can make the door ajar light come on and go off just by pushing in and releasing the passenger door switch. If I close the drivers door the ajar light is on and I cannot make it go off with the passenger switch. This is leading me back to that module they replaced and programmed for me. Any thoughts? Im thinking since they seem to be functioning just backwards then they are ok
it sound like the leads for the drivers side are backwards at the switch. with drivers side open, truck sences closed, when closed it reads open. im not real positive how this is all wired up inside of your year truck, but that is what is indeed happening
ok I went and re read your last post, as you describe it there, just the drivers side is backwards... when you close the drivers door its reading open so no matter what you do to the pass side its going to think a door is still ajar... when you open the drivers door its reading closed, so you now have all control of the door ajar with the pass door. If this is not how it is then i may not understand post 20 as you wrote it
maybe you should start from the begining, cause i reallllllly missed something. I never assumed or heard you mention any rear doors in this whole senario. I am describing the two front doors as you have described the two front doors... while driver side open, the door ajar functions cycles on and off with the other door. with the drivers door closed the door ajar will remain on no matter what you do to the other door. If this does not sound like what you are experiencing, then you may need to explaine what i am missing...
ahhhhhhhhh nowwww i seeeeee! well then it must go to a central local then, I would say its the module these grounds plug into. bet the rear doors are run on a different circut. I would need the schematics to pin this one down
Yes I did. I took it to an independent shop who has the ford computers and it turned out that the dealer programed the module wrong. Very upsetting that the dealer told me theres no way it was programed wrong
