Will do. I'm going to do it over a few days so I don't get in a hurry and screw something up.

Absolutely, Pop. Bought the master rebuild kit, Transgo Tugger kit, the book, the upgraded snap ring for the coast clutches (I think that's what it was for), and a new torque converter. Mark K said my problem was a seal in the forward clutches and it requires a complete teardown. I'd be a fool not to rebuild it while I'm in there.

I suspect you mean the spiral replacement for the overdrive piston return spring retaining ring.

@Roland- I bought all the stuff at a place called "Whatever it Takes". Not sure where all they have places. They're on the internet and have a local store here in Knoxville.

@Pop- That is exactly the ring I am referring to.

Do you have any details on what the kit contains and the TC?

I am curious too!!!
Roland do you remember I have my trans out for a front seal and pump modds and I am kicking around the idea of also doing a rebuild since I do believe I am having issues with the TC. And if I replace the TC I may as well go into the trans. I remember you posting up the kit you used. Where did you get yours from ?
And Rodney please post pics as you go if you can. I'll be following this rebuild closely. Since I really don't know automatic trans and have never done one. Good luck and I hope all goes well.

@Roland- the kit is a master kit. It's all the steels, frictions, and seals. The TC is just a stock converter. Nothing is upgraded as far as performance, just standard parts. I figured since I don't tow heavy or anything like that I didn't need to spend money I really can't afford to spend. Don't know if you remember from RRE, but I've got a small village of kids.

I'm definitely going to take a TON of pics. I'll try to post them each evening.

I'm a machinist by trade so I hope that helps me out. I'll be doing lots of praying during this job for sure!
