Speedo cable-gear question.
Heres the deal. Me and my dad just installed a top toader 4 speed (bolted right up no problem had to rerout the speedo cable through the hole for the clutch linkage) tranny in my truck and a set of new 3:1 gears. I am running a shorter tire to so that number is more around 3.1:1 to 3.2:1. Anyway my question is what gear (number of teeth on the gear) do i have to run on on the cable to get a properly working speedometer? Oh i don't know what the factory rear end gears are cause a previous owner changed the gears to an oddball ratio (2.8:1). Anyway the factory gear for the speedometery was 17 teeth and the one we put in was 20 teeth. Anyway, anyone have any ideas on what gear to use?

Speedo cable-gear question.
Ain't hot rodding fun? I don't have a clue as to how to figure it. In the past when I've done stuff like that, I just figured where the speedo read at certain speeds and learned to live with it.
