Does anyone have good suggestions on how to adapt a more modern front and rear shock for my 47 1 ton? The rear never had shocks, I found a nice 9 inch with 3.7 gears for the rear but how to do the shocks? I also have a set of hi-boy mounts from a 48 F1 but how do I attach it to the axle? Drill for a stud, weld one on or??

For the back, check where the shocks from the 9" are attached and go vertical, then either weld in an x-member to mount shocks, or box a small section of frame and drill and install post bolts. Like:
Thanks for the help. I may try to drill a stud for the front and use the 48 hi boy mounts. For the rear, there isn't a mount on the axle so I will have to find or make a lower mount. The photos are a great help. Thanks!
Here's another way to mount the rear shocks. I got the spring plates from Summit Racing and they have a bottom mount for shocks built in. The rear end is a 10-bolt Chevy from a 75 Malibu and the shocks are 53-55 Ford F-100...
