I currently have a '90 f250 that has the 5.0 and has the Mazda 5spd. with the BW1345 behind it. I recently bought a 460 with a ZF s5-42 and a BW 1356.. For simplicity reasons, i want to put the BW 1345 behind the ZF, My question is if the 1345 is strong enough to be able to put up with the bigger engine and transmission.. if it is even possible to change out the transfer case .. Please help, and Thank you.
The 1356 and 1345 arn't really much different. Really the only big difference I know of it the 1356 has a slip joint for the f150.
If you are concerned that the 1345 can't handle the torque of the 460, you can get a W 1356 out of a 90's model Bronco. The Bronco had the fixed flange.

Some of the F250s and F350s had the slip yoke as well.
