Yeah Ben I've got tons of before pics. There may be a few in my album or whatever it's called on here.
Yeah Dan, it was definitely a cooling issue. The whole drivers side bank of cylinders wasn't getting any coolant. The passages were all gunked up. Glad I got it overhauled.
It was supposed to take "2 weeks...maybe 3 at the outside." That was December 10th! It was finally ready today. Ha! No big deal tho. The tranny was supposed to be a week or 10 days. That was also last seen mid-December. And as always "it'll be done next week." Oh well. It still lots of fun.

Well at least we have closure on the cooling problem! And best of all, it didn't cost me anything!!! Yet
Cool! looks great. What are the spec on the engine?
I need to get a spec sheet. I don't know how much he bored it out. It WAS a 351W...still is a Windsor, but probably a hair over 351. Engine guy was estimating about 350hp and 300ish on the torque. No idea where he got that. Does it sound right to you all? Putting a rebuilt T5 World Class behind it and an 8" (not 8.8, but 8") ford rear end too.

Hi Tyler,
You will need the details on what the engine has in it now. A new cam? what cam? higher compression ratio? as you said, whats the bore on it now? etc.
If they just rebuilt it to factory specs and only bored it, that sounds kinda high.
I don't know what year your engine is, but my 351W is a '95 and factory HP is rated at 210hp
I don't know if that is HP at the tires or at the back of the motor.
The knowledgeable guys will jump in here, I am sure. And I am very curious too!
I do know that the factory windsor heads are fairly restrictive in terms of increasing horsepower. In other words an aluminum aftermarket set of heads would really make a big difference in HP. along with other stuff...I will stop there...anything beyond what I just typed and I will be talking out my butt...
edit: I hope they at least put in some kind of cam, like an edelbrock performer or something like that. I love to hear a little lope from a cam upgrade! I am sure that you will be happy with it, just being a fresh rebuild!

If those are stock rebuilt 351W heads, I think he's overstating a bit. Even if these are the better '69-'70 heads they still don't flow worth a darn without some serious port work. Once you've fully ported the exh ports and cleaned up the intake ports, add Chevy 1.94/1.60 valves then these heads finally start to perform. But really, all that money spent is better spent on a set of aftermarket heads. The prices these days are hard to beat, especially on aluminum units.
Would definately like to gander at the specs. If the cam is pretty tame i'm betting in the the 250hp range. But that's ok, as your torque should be way up there and that's what you're feelin when you take off from a light or fryin the tires. Horsepower is only really noticed/used on the top end. The 460 in my truck is only 275-280hp. But it's got 466 ft lbs of torque. It has no problem frying the tires at the drop of a hat or pullin like a freight train onto the freeway with a car on the car trailer! People are dumbfounded when i tell them it's only 275hp!
I do like that color you painted your 351W though and those valvecovers are a really nice added touch! Can't wait to see it all back together and running.
