I just purchased a 2008 F250 Lariat PStroke and noticed yesterday that when I had to cut the wheels sharply to the left that there was a grinding noise that sounded like the tire was hitting the wheel well. Tonight i noticed a small pool of fluid in my driveway. It wasn't Oil or Tranny fluid. It was clear, odorless, and slightly oily to the touch. Any information would be appreciated.
Hi jgfunk77, welcome to FTE! It looks like you placed two threads in the wrong forums for this type of question. I'm moving this one to the Super Duty and Heavy Duty forum, you should have better luck finding answers there.
You're doing fine and it looks like Tom landed you in the right place.
The steering damper (aka steering stabilizer) should run you about $48 according to Tousley's site....provided that's what's wrong. From what you describe though, it sounds likely.
Check your steering damper for signs of fluid leaking around the shaft where it enters the end of the damper. There will likely be some leakage and dust / dirt caked on and around the site of the leak.
First off, get under the truck and find where the oil is coming from. I wouldn't think the steering stabilizer would make a noise while turning the wheel.
Welcome aboard. When I bought my truck (used) there was a loose brake line under the hood. I tightened it and it hasent leaked since. Since we're placing bets I'll go there. I know its a long shot, but oh well.
