Truck chugs hard and will not run over 1000 Rpms!!! Help!

Pull the connections at the valve covers and check for burnt pins

I will try to get codes and then post back around my lunch time. Also going to check vavle cover plugs.

So his higher end code reader came back to nothing, I checked the plugs on the vc and got they all look good. Where is the IDM located?

Thanks Mike. I'm trying to track a spare IDM down but having no luck. Dad will not let me pull his in fear something will gone wrong and with his truck he doesnt work. Not sure where to go from here.

THat is not possible ... You had a CEL , a code is stored . You need a scanner that can do a buzz test ...

We are going swap idm tomorrow. Hope it runs with that. Suppose to leave thurusday night for a long weekend way.

It's toast. I'll give you $500 for it so you can quit throwing parts at it.

Otherwise, go back to your very first post where you stated it threw the CEL. As Rick's been trying to tell you, if that light came on, there is a code stored. You either need to find a scanner that is capable of reading the codes, or just keep throwing parts at it hoping that you get lucky.

Of course it's your call and we'll help you either way. It's just that some around here don't like to see others throwing money away while they throw parts at it.

I under stand what your telling me guys. I don't have a way to pull the code. I wish I could afford a nice high end code reader.

Ok guys truck was sent to ford to get codes. I got 2 codes. P1298 and P0279. I swaped out idm for a new one from auto computer company. They sent me an idm 120. Tryed to start truck and nothing.
