I was going down the highway yesterday when a state truck was hap-hazardly loaded and started spewing rocks/pebbles all over the road. lost my windshield, damage "all over" my fenders and hood. small nicks mainly. my truck was flawless until this. state is pushing back becuase I didn't get truck number. i have minimum insurance becuase I paid cash. 1500 to repair at two collision centers. 1500 is just too much for the budget right now.
can anyone tell me the best place to get matching paint for fire-engine red 2000 F250 super duty? I'll have to touch up as best i can and find a place to do the windshield. dealership?
Go to your local professional body shop supplier and take your truck along too. They're able to custom blend a color to closely match the existing. They're able to package in for you in an aerosol container like any other spray bomb but with a matching color.
Most "duplica-color" type touch up stuff is maybe close to a factory original color but after a few years your color changes, no longer even close to something off the shelf.
If this ever happens again get the truck number, the highway or approximate location (in front of 1313 Mockingbird Lane for example), the time of day and of course photos are almost indisputable---most cell phones have a camera these days.
