2001-'02 Ford Escape Recalled for Possible Fire Risk

I got my letter from Ford yesterday, saying that our '02 would be recalled, but that parts were not yet available. They would contact us when parts become available, but meanwhile we are advised to not park in a garage or near flammable materials.

It appears to involve the master cylinder resevoir cap, and some ABS wiring that may be contaminated by the leaking cap. I've already paid a mechanic to fix the leaking resevoir.

 

I got my notice last week also.

 

Yeah I got a letter too... I had the master cylinder replaced on my '01 about three months ago. Until I did I had a huge problem with the brakes not releasing and creating some serious overheating on several occasions.

 

I got this notice too. Park it outside?

edit: Just went out to the garage and checked my wife's 01.. sure enough leaking like a sieve around the master cylinder and all over the ABS module in question.

Outside she goes.. really ford what about these parts are so hard to get?
