i have a 94 f150 with a 351, the 4x4 conversion looks like it would be fun to do. i dont think i would have a problem with the push button engage, would the setup be easier to find? would it be easier to install? i could go with the manual shifter and manual hubs but i dont go offroading that often, so im not relying on it too much. i understand the hole in the floor for the shifter is already cut out or is easy to cut out? i also understand the driveshaft has to be shortened. will my transmission be able to be modified or will i have to get a new one? if someone could please just tell me a good setup that would be great.
Get an 80-96 TTB, however the 87 and lower use different way of mounting the brake calipers, if you get the TTB from hub to hub you'll be fine. Make sure you get the 4x4 radius arms too. You'll need to move your crossmember, get a driveshaft from a truck that is 4x4 with the same length configuration that you have. The 4x4s use only a 1 piece driveshaft, yours uses 2 i believe. You will need to have the tailshaft on the tranny changed to allow the Transfer case to be bolted up. The plate for the 4x4 shifter is there, just siliconed in so pop that out. Get one with a manual shifter, much easier to install and a much better method overall. There is a post going in one of these forums, i think the 4x4 forum, about auto hubs and the elec. 4x4. Get manual shifted and manual hubs (the hubs are easy to change if their auto). Get a bw 13-56 transfer case. There are a lot of posts on this. If you have any question, feel free to e-mail me.
