Programmer for 6.4

Just picked up an 08 f250 6.4. Just wondering what everyone is using for tuners. I want with the option to turn the dpf and egr delete on and off, not ready to take them out yet but if they ever give me problems I will and I don't want to buy another tuner. Not looking for crazy power gains either. Thanks for any opinions.

spartan or H&S would probably be the route to go so you can run DPF and or DPF off tunes.

Just to clarify. DPF off tunes require the DPF being removed from the truck

I am going to keep the dpf on for now until it starts to cause problems. If it does crap out I don't want to have to buy a new programmer.

H&S & Spartan have "DPF On" tunes as well as Delete tunes. However, I don't think I could recommend the DPF On tunes for either manufacturer. I believe you'll shorten the life of the DPF and most likely cause more frequent regens from soot build up. More Regens = BAD.

I do not think that regents between 300 and +600 miles with the DPF on tunes is increasing the frequency.. Read all the treads. Any way, will need to talk with the tech people at spartan to know exactly the % of soot vs Ford. For me the frequency of regens depend on each truck and driver (right foot).

Delete all that stuff is ofcourse the solution.

Here's a Spartan Tech recommending NOT to run DPF On tunes for a lengthy period of time. If he's recommending not to do it for a long period of time, why would one think it's ok for a short period. Or why would you only want to do it for a short period other than not having the time to remove the DPF right away.

Banks g gun is also a DPF on tune, CARB approved too for those in Calif.

They do not offer the DPF off.

hey, i don't mean to hijack your thread but i have a question about programmers too. I have a new edge cts on my '08, my question is, I want to do an egr delete. will the edge deal with it and is there a better programmer out there? I've been thinking of selling the edge for a spartan but then i need all the new gauges. and i live in canada but my truck is in mph. so i use the edge for the speed in kph. so if i stack a programmer, how do i go about doing that?
