Time for an exhaust system on my Super-Duty F-350 Powerstoke. It's a 2001,7.3,DRW dump truck. My question is,should I go with an aftermarket,turbo-back system? Or stick with a stock type system with a muffler. The truck has 87,000 miles and is a great truck for me. I plan on having it for a long time and I take very good care of it.Any info would be great. Thanks,George

Is your truck used commercially? The reason I ask is because Some states test commercial trucks more stringently (I.E.smog, Dot).

No, I use it privately to pull my stump grinder and to haul firewood.

Then definitely go the aftermarket turbo back, I would go straight pipe from the turbo. You will notice a performance increase without the CAT and muffler. Plus to buy the stock system will probably be the more expensive route.
I wonder if a shop such as Meineke,or Midas could fabricate such a system? Or go to a custom shop?
Usually Meineke is kinda expensive but they should put anything you want on the truck, The last time i got straight pipes i just went to a Mom and Pop (custom) muffler shop and they did it for cheap, It really depends what you want.
Also to warn you straight pipes are kinda loud on a 7.3L, but as long as you go all the way to the rear with it the noise level in the cab wont increase much. Custom muffler shops can put mufflers on your truck if your worried about too much noise.
They can also weld custom tips on your exhaust so if you have a 4" system but you like the look of a 6" out pipe they can weld a shiny chrome tip on it for you, but chrome tips are hard as hell to keep clean for us folks that USE our diesels lol
