Has anyone used the load helpers for the rear leaf? I'm looking at the half leaf bolt on helper adds 500lbs to you load max. They make a full leaf to that adds alot more.
If you can manage it, try investing in air helper springs
These are air bags which bolt on to the frame and axle and significantly increase the load capacity of the truck. One bonus is that when unloaded, you can decrease the amount of air to adjust your ride
I used the "helper springs" in an older truck. Combined with new shocks and a little wider profile tires, they did wonders for the capacity, but it is kind of rough when running on gravel.
I've got a combination of add-a-leafs (from the lift kit), overload leafs, and coil-over shocks on my truck. They definately help in keeping the back end up when towing or hauling anything. The ride isn't bad empty, but you can definately tell that the back is stiffer than the front when going over speed bumps or something like that.
The thing to keep in mind is it's not just the springs that determine how much your truck can SAFELY haul. The rear axle is the key to weight carrying capacity. If you overload the capacity of the axle enough you are going to break something no matter how hefty your springs are.
