It is used to tell you how many hours your engine has spent running, If you take the miles you have and divide it by the hours on the engine it'll tell you how many miles per engine operating hour. That in turn will tell you if you spent alot of time idling. Hours is also used if you lets say snow plow you wont get that many miles on the truck but the hours will go up you can use that to help you know when you need to change your engine oil.

About 6,000/yr for me with about 75% of that towing 13k Toy Hauler or 8k Race Trailer. I drive an Accord for my daily work transportation.

Mines similar to Brad's, 6k a year, half are the result of towing.

20K per year for me on average.. not really towing anything heavy.. its my DD.. mostly drive it to work and back .. and then trips on the weekends..

I'm kind of looking to make mine my daily driver also and consolidate some of these vehicles. How far is your commute? Have you had any problems with the truck?

*I see you are tuned, I guess that probably helps a bit also
