I'm just kind of lucky that way. The uncle that has that stroker kit is pretty much the only guy that I go to if I don't know how to do something on my truck. I just like the simplicity of a carburetor. You should probably look up something like Mass Air Flow versus Speed Density. Your truck is speed density just so you know. I know what the 393 is, I'm just saying in comparison of power, it'll be similar. there is no replacement for displacement though.

yeah, displacement is king, im just trying to turn my truck into a muscle truck lol but a stroker is long down the road for me, first i will do headers and new duals, fix all the lil things like the locks are being a butt, seals, level it and get some tires for it, might paint it then slowly assemble motor parts and tranny parts so i can pull it all out and rebuild it all and drop in the motor parts lke cams and maybe heads, probably upgrade the pistons and bore it over a tad, put it back in, race injectors, stereo, save up for lift, axles, new tires and rims and after that, maybe the strokers and a turbo then beefyer bumpers and strengthen the frae, then various other things i think are cool

well its more like a sensor really, i know a guy that lives and breathes this kinda truck so i listen to him, he said theres like a computer/chip/sensor thing somewhere that controlls the injectors/fuelair mixture crap that you upgrade and its like chipping a newer truck, wasnt very specific but that generally what he said, or atleast what i got out of it, but i will be doing race quailty everything, all after market cause i want better than stock everything

yeah, ive spent all day on this site reading everything that has to do with what i want to do and the 351, im thinkin bout just buying another motor and building that up with what i want instead of dealing with mine no, mostly so i can have it fine tuned before i drop it in, well i talked to a guy down the road from me and he will sell me his f350 axles out off hid old 90 that he just parted out, he will save em till i can afford then (NEED JOB SOON BAD) but he only has the axles so i will need tires and rims for it too, but he said that should literally just bolt right up cause his buddy did the exact same thing to his 89 f150 a year ago, but the idea grew on me of getting a 460 some day long down the road whenever this truck is no longer my daily driver and turning it into a street/mudd monster

but lately i wasnt able to work on my truck even though its been sitting next to my shed for a month cause me ad my cousin were trying to put the feul rail on and he snapped a bolt and i was missing an intake manifold bolt, one manifold bolt would cost me $17 from a website i found, only website that even had em and you cannot buy the fuel rail bolts anywhere, so i went to a junk yard and got 2 fuel rail bolts and 4 manifold bolts along with a wheel lug that i found on the ground cost me $.75 so tommorow after school ima put that sucker back together finally

Ok. So to recap what people have suggested you do, to make your truck have more power and get better mpg.
Long tube headers
Dual exhaust (or single 3")
GT40 heads
1.7 roller rockers
300-6 or 460 intake tube/snout and aftermarket drop-in filter
Cam swap (especially if you have heads off)

Your speed density efi is perfectly fine unless your doing boost. But really for what you want and until you get a good job established, I'd stick with what is easy.
Once you do all that is listed, go and get a custom chip made specifically for your truck. Then after that when you get a stroker motor built, it's just a quick and less expensive tuning trip.

I like the idea of getting another motor to build. And with the 351 block able to get to 427 CID there is no reason to swap a 460 in unless you just want the novelty of it. (I've done it a few times) A 393 stroker is cheap because they designed the crank to use stock 351 rods and stock (sorta) pistons. Its just not as strong as the engineered 408 kit.

thanks for saying that, kinda cleared up my cluttered thoughts, but yes thats myplan, but i want a 460 as say a project for when its no longer gonna be my daily driver, id like to totally mod out a 460 and make it into say 540? lol but just somthing to have fun with really, ive always wanted a muscle car and i love trucks to death, why not combine both?

well i will figure it out one day soon, but talked to my grandpa and i might buy one of his blocks and get to building my dream motor, had a very in depth talk with him bout cams an such, never fail to earn somthing from him, but he has a 6.5 diesel with a turbo ready to go, thinkin bout maybe getting that instead and converting to a diesel now, but thats iffy, lift isnt coming til im outa highschool, thinkin leveling it and 33s? repaint it white and do all the detail black, black wheels, black tint, black truim, black interior, change the dash lights to red, cheap stereo, new headlights, and last but not least at all headers and new pipes. all that soon so its running good and in a condition im willing to leave it in for a long time while i build up the motor, what yall think? and im glad to take any suggestions yall wanna toss my way

ok well i talked to a guy that does nothing but work on 351w and he said with the parts i want to put on it and if i want to keep gasmilage is basically put RV/torque cams and it should put me round 330-350ish hp and about 420-460lb-ft of torque, thats as much hp as i wantd anyways with far more torque so i happy there, im starting to think bout addin NOS to it but dont freak out, just for a little fun and use very low weak hots just for a tad bit of boost, should i try and aim for higher compression since im only gonna buy premium? my truck will get nothing but the best. and would anyone know if theres a 5 speed auto tranny for a 351? thinkin bout putting in a 5 speed manual cause my dad has one just laying around
